Expiration Dates

As a consumer of commercial products, I have learned to take expiration dates with a grain of salt. Raw meat? Yes, I’ll watch that date carefully. Canned goods? I definitely use them years after. Oak Manour has expiration dates on our lotions. I’ll explain why so you can make a judgement on whether to follow the exact date of expiration or to stretch it.

Our lotions are homemade, with natural or simple ingredients, not commercially made. This means that they are more susceptible to germs. We have a few different germicidals that we use. I posted a blog all about that topic on December 4, 2025, so please read it if you are interested. Each of our germicidals is good for a different range of time. For example, 5-7 months for one, or up to a year for another. Even if we did constant testing, we would not know whether the range falls more on one end or the other. This is because a lot depends on you and how you are handling your lotion. We set the expiration dates towards the conservative to middle end of each range.

On January 14, 2026, I posted a blog called “Make Your Oak Manour Lotion Last!” If you would like to push your expiration date, please read this blog. If you do not have time to read blogs all day, I advise sticking to the posted expiration date. Thank you!
