Essential Oils VS Fragrance Oils

Oak Manour offers products with essential oils and also products with fragrance oils. With essential oils, we can make products that are 100% natural. Using fragrance oils allows us to offer many more scents than are available with essential oils.

Essential oil is taking the essence of a plant or fruit and concentrating it. Usually steam distillation is used to achieve this. If a fruit already has a high oil content, like orange skins, the oil could be simply pressed out instead of distilled. For delicate plants, like certain flowers, one or more solvents may be used to obtain the oil as the high heat of distillation would ruin it. In any of these processes, the end result is considered a natural oil of the plant it came from.

Fragrance oils are usually made in a lab. They can be made from synthetic compounds, essential oils or aromatic resins. Sometimes they are completely artificial, manufactured chemically. Sometimes they are more naturally derived. If your skin reacts to one fragrance oil, that does not necessarily mean that you will react to all of them. Fragrance oils are not limited to the handful of traditional essential oil scents. Oak Manour does our best to choose quality fragrance oils that come in a variety of fun scents like Dulce de Leche, Japanese Cherry Blossom and the popular Frosted Cranberry.
